Another Tyler Perry movie? God is punishing me

Since I run a relatively successful movie website, I am obligated to include all wide releases in my movie database, and that includes the new Tyler Perry movie, the ego-boosting-titled Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?

I am promoting the film by even writing this blog post, yet I must point out that I despise his movies and the man himself for forcing unsuspecting audiences to watch absolutely dreadful pieces of crap. Why does Lionsgate keep making them? Because they make money. Why do they make money? Because people go see them, or rent them. Why do people do that? I have no f**king clue, but they're probably: a) religious and somehow got tricked into Christianity-can-make-even-bad-movies-good propoganda, b) absolutely stupid, c) have never heard of Tyler Perry or have never witnessed how bad his movies can be, or d) get a hard-on from watching a man dress up like a woman.

Nonetheless, he has a new movie coming out, and I'm tempted to email my contact at Lionsgate at demand that they drop this film from the release schedule or else I will never work with them again on a project.

Okay, so that might not work, but please, people, please, don't watch this movie! It only causes more Tyler Perry movies to be made!

Isn't the wannabe, poor, redneck, incest-committing, trailer trash the target audience of Tyler Perry films? At least my grammar is better.

"Isn't the wannabe, poor, redneck, incest-committing, trailer trash the target audience of Tyler Perry films? " Yes ! He targets people just like you. Why don't you tune in !

"At least my grammar is better ." If that's the only thing you have to comfort you, then I'll let you have that one...lol !

Okay, it's my turn (bad grammar and all) ! Apparently disrespecting hardworking, taxpaying citizens makes you feel as though you are not such a loser after all. Tyler struggled for 10 years to make something of himself. And now not only is he a well recognized playwright, director ,producer, and author but he's the owner and ceo of his own production company, which pisses off Hollywood and White America to no end. He no longer has to get your or anyone's permission to do what you are not smart enough or equipped to do ! He's his own man . And the only thing you have accomplished in your wasted little life on Earth, is this miserable little website . WOW ! what a "big" accomplishment ! Why don't you correct my grammar...it'll give you something to do while you wait on your unemployment !

Hey, I only gave a "low blow" because you started off by saying "Go to hell" etc. etc.

His work may be fine as plays, but his movies are just plain bad. There are plenty of stories/scripts that work as plays and not as movies, and everything from the production values to the style of writing to the makeup of Madea to the characters all suggest that that, at the very minimum, is the case. And I'm not the lone wolf shouting about how these movies aren't so good. On IMDB, Diary of a Mad Black Woman has a 5.1 rating, which is marginally acceptable but still not very good, and Madea's Family Reunion and Daddy's Little Girls both have ratings in the 3's.

You're right - I'm not a filmmaker and he is, but that doesn't mean I have to like or respect his movies; that also doesn't mean that just because you like his movies you can bash me for talking about how I dislike his movies on my website. As for what I've accomplished in this world, to assume that this little blog is all I do in life is just silly.

I respect a debate/argument, but Internet bashes on criticisms usually revolve around how someone is "so stupid" for not agreeing with someone else. I think movies should be a place for quality entertainment or intriguing drama, and I don't think Tyler Perry has figured out how to deliver that yet.

Are you saying your not guilty of internet bashing ? Well how do you explain the comment "I despise his movies and the man himself for forcing unsuspecting audiences to watch absolutely dreadful pieces of crap." I read a lot of reviews from professional critics , who don't result to using such negative, idiomatic, and unprofessional descriptions . And the last time I checked , Tyler Perry was not holding a gun to my, or any of the thousands of people who find his movies entertaining and even enlightening, head . And what about "Why do people do that? I have no f**king clue, but they're probably: a) religious and somehow got tricked into Christianity-can-make-even-bad-movies-good propoganda, b) absolutely stupid, c) have never heard of Tyler Perry or have never witnessed how bad his movies can be, or d) get a hard-on from watching a man dress up like a woman." And you wonder why I started my comment "go to hell" ? Not only were you bashing Tyler but the Christian Community who are glad to see a movie where the women don't have their genitals spread all over the movie screen and the men are not cursing like some neanderthal idiots, of which I'm sure you give those type movies a thumbs up. If you can't subscribe to the Tyler Perry empire, then that's fine, many people do not. But what does any of the name calling that you include in your comments , have to do with legitimate movie reviewing ?

You stated that is was silly to assume that all you had was this little blog. Well asking the public not to see Tyler Perry movies because he would continue to make more, is just as silly , if not stupid ! Isn't it just as silly to assume that this movie or any of his movies in the future, will all receive the same ratings ? Or is it that you just have a problem with a movie that displays decency ?

And as for the supposedly "low blow" you're referring to, it really isn't. LoL..I've heard worse from bigger men than you .

LOL, I suppose I should have read my own post before replying to you. :o)

I am certainly guilty of Internet bashing... it's a fun thing to do, and I apologize for criticizing you for doing the same thing.

In regards to the Christianity comment, my intent was not to bash the religious but more to criticize the studio for delivering a not-up-to-par film that can easily be sold to religious people. After The Passion of the Christ awakened audiences to the religious market, studios start doing what they do to all newfound markets - develop more movies, for less and less money. It's not that religious people are stupid; it's that they are desperate for quality "fare" that doesn't have certain material they deem offensive (since there aren't many movies that match that criteria these days), and studios exploit the fact. I just have a problem that most - not all - religious-targeted films have low production values and are really not that good of movies.

I stand by that Tyler Perry movies fit into that category. If $10 million more was spent, better directors hired and a screenwriter brought in to refine Perry's play-style script, his movies could have been decent.

I don't agree with you but at least the critique is more professional this time .

WOW! I know this comment will be late considering the dates you two posted- but I too am a Tyler Perry fan and just seen the movie. I happened to be surfing the net and came across this site. I was going to rip you up, but then I read the anonymous comments- There is no need! She said it all. lol. Tyler Perry is an inspiration, creative in his own right and definately entertaining!I hope he milks the industry for all it is worth and continues to open doors for many more black (or simply esoteric)writers- If you can't relate- no one cares!
